We've approved a grant of up to £345,000 from the government's Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) to Marches Energy Advice (MEA).
This will provide energy relief crisis payments and pre-payment energy vouchers to residents struggling to afford their energy bills.
The funding, available until 31 March 2029, forms part of Derbyshire's wider Crisis and Resilience Fund programme, which is helping low-income households across the county manage the impact of rising living costs and build longer-term financial resilience.
Councillor Dan Price, Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety, said:
"No one should have to choose between heating their home and paying for other essentials.
“We know that many residents across Derbyshire continue to face significant pressures from rising energy costs, and this funding will provide vital support to those who need it most.
"By working with Marches Energy Advice, we're making sure people can access immediate financial help alongside expert advice and practical support to improve their circumstances over the longer term. This is about helping residents through a crisis today while building resilience for the future."
Fuel poverty remains a significant issue in Derbyshire, with an estimated 12.1% of households affected, higher than the national average.
Rising energy costs continue to place particular pressure on low-income families, older people, disabled residents and those living with long-term health conditions.
The funding will support at least 500 households through direct energy relief payments and provide around 1,250 pre-payment energy vouchers over the next 3 years.
As well as immediate financial help, residents receiving support will be offered access to personalised energy advice, assistance with energy debt, income maximisation support and guidance on improving energy efficiency in their homes.
