From furniture and homeware to garden equipment, books, CDs and vinyl, there’s a host of preloved items ready for a new home – so why not pop along to the centre on Mayfield Road and bag yourself a deal.
The pop-up reuse shop will be open from 9.30am until 5pm on:
- 7 to 9 August 2026
- 21 to 23 August 2026
Contractors H W Martin who operate 8 recycling centres on our behalf will run the reuse shop which will be stocked with items collected at the centres, helping to give preloved items a new lease of life and reducing our waste disposal costs.
All goods are checked to ensure products are high quality before being displayed for sale.
Typical types of goods sold in reuse shops:
- furniture
- crockery, pots, cutlery, kitchen goods
- books, CDs, records, DVDs – all should be originals and not copies
- ornaments
- pictures, picture frames and pieces of art
- garden furniture, garden tools, garden ornaments
- premium clothing and footwear – donated directly to the shop
- toys and board games
Purchases can be made using cash or electronically, and proceeds from sales will cover the cost of running the shop with any profits donated to local charitable causes.
Councillor Carol Wood, our Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“Reducing waste and boosting recycling underpins our commitment to protecting and improving our environment.
“This pop-up reuse shop at our recycling centre in Ashbourne builds on the success of our permanent reuse shop at Bolsover. As well as offering residents high quality used goods at a great price, it will help to reduce the council’s waste disposal costs while raising money for local charitable causes – so everyone benefits.”
Items brought to any of our recycling centres may be set aside by staff for resale in the shop, but anyone with items they believe might be suitable can hand them to staff on site, who will be happy to take a look.
