Our team of experienced local business advisers are ready to guide you every step of the way, completely free of charge. You'll get:
- mentoring business and financial planning
- marketing strategy support
- signposting to other suitable sources of support
Support available across Derbyshire
We're supporting start-ups in:
- Amber Valley
- Bolsover
- Chesterfield
- Derbyshire Dales
- Derby
- High Peak
- North East Derbyshire
- South Derbyshire
If your business is, or will be, based in one of these districts, please complete our online form to register your interest in the Business Start-Up Programme.
Up to £10,000 in grant funding
Need a financial boost? Businesses that are enrolled with the Derbyshire Business Start-Up programme and meet the eligibility criteria could access up to £10,000 in start-up funding (covering up to 50% of permitted costs).
You'll need to:
- work with a business adviser
- create a business plan and cash flow forecast
- obtain quotations for the items you would like funding support for
- submit your application for independent review
A small grant scheme is also available, where funds of up to £500 (covering up to 100% of permitted costs) can be provided to businesses meeting the eligibility criteria.
Express your interest for business start-up support
This form is only for expressing interest in the Business Start-Up Programme, not for applying for a grant. You must be enrolled on the programme before you can start a grant application.
Or you can email business@derbyshire.gov.uk with:
- your name, business address, email, and phone number
- a short description of your business or idea
- your current trading status (0 to 3 months, or 3 to 12 months trading)
What happens next
Once you express your interest, you'll be asked to book onto an online information session. Attendance at this session is mandatory before you can access further support. The session provides:
- an overview of the Business Start-Up Programme
- details of the grant scheme and eligibility requirements
- guidance on next steps
The Derbyshire Business Start-Up Support Scheme is funded by the East Midlands County Combined Authority's Shared Prosperity Fund.
If your business is based in Erewash
Support for businesses in Erewash is provided by the Erewash Partnership. You can still apply for a grant through the Derbyshire Business Start-Up Support Scheme, but you must be working with the Erewash Partnership to access this funding.
