Here's a summary of the day rover tickets available in Derbyshire.

The Derbyshire Wayfarer

Derbyshire Wayfarer is the ideal ticket for exploring Derbyshire by bus and train.

Tickets cost just £12.60 each for adults and £6.30 each for children and people over 60 (proof of age may be required) and holders of English National Concessionary Travel Scheme passes such as Derbyshire Gold Cards.

A child may travel free with each adult rate ticket holder.

A group ticket for up to two adults and up to three children is available for £23.

There are special discounts for Derbyshire Wayfarer travellers at top attractions in Derbyshire, and chances to win a free ticket.

The Stagecoach Explorer

Stagecoach's Explorer ticket is valid for one day's travel on all Stagecoach buses and trams (except Stagecoach Manchester services and 'Pronto' buses) in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

Tickets are sold on their buses at £5.80 each for adults and £3.90 each for children.

The Dayrider ticket

Stagecoach in Chesterfield (opens in a new window) offer the Dayrider Plus ticket for £4.

This gives a day's travel on Stagecoach in Chesterfield buses only, around the Chesterfield area (bounded by Clay Cross, Pilsley, Holmewood, Heath, Bolsover, Renishaw, Eckington, Norton Hotel, Dronfield, Holmesfield and Old Brampton).

The cheaper Dayrider ticket (£3.20 adult) is valid in a smaller area within Chesterfield. Tickets are sold on Stagecoach in Chesterfield buses within the validity area.

Similar tickets valid for seven consecutive days are also available - these are the MegaRider Plus ticket (valid in the same area as the Dayrider Plus) and the cheaper MegaRider (valid within the Dayrider area).


'Spectrum' is a day rover ticket for journeys wholly within the city of Derby. It is valid on Arriva, Trent Barton, Kinchbus, Notts & Derby and Littles' buses, with some exceptions as below.

Adult tickets are priced at £5.50 and child tickets £3.50 and allow unlimited day travel within the city of Derby (and Stenson Fields). Tickets are available from drivers on the day, and are valid until midnight.

Bus services 6X, X38, and RA 'Red Arrow', special football buses and Trent Barton buses before 5am cannot be used with a Spectrum ticket.

The Trent Barton Zig Zag Plus and Zig Zag

Zig Zag Plus is valid for one day's travel (up to 4am the next day)on all Trent Barton buses (including Rainbow, Red Arrow, Villager, Spondon Flyer, Ilkeston Flyer, Indigo, Harlequin, Allestree, Mickleover and Black Cat services), and on Skylink between Derby and Loughborough. Tickets are sold on their buses at £9 each.

Zig Zag is similar, but is not available before 9am on Mondays to Fridays. It is not valid on Pronto or Skylink buses. It costs £6 for an adult and a group ticket is available at £13. Anyone over 55 can apply to join Trent Barton's Club 55 - members can buy 'Zig Zag' tickets for just £5.

The TM Travel YoYo and YoYo Plus

YoYo Plus is valid for unlimited travel for one day on all TM Travel buses (except dedicated school and college services). The ticket costs £6.50 (adult) or £4.30 (child / b_line holder) from the bus driver.

There are also cheaper 'YoYo Chesterfield', 'YoYo Sheffield' and 'YoYo South Yorkshire' tickets valid in more local areas (opens in a new window).

The High Peak 'PeakPlus'

'PeakPlus' is High Peak Buses network day ticket, valid on all their services except on 'TransPeak' between Matlock and Derby and between Hazel Grove and Manchester, and on Service 199 between Hazel Grove and Manchester Airport before 0900.

PeakPlus cost £7.50 for adults, £5 for children and £15 for a family ticket (up to two adults and up to two children aged under 16). Tickets can be purchased from High Peak drivers.

The High Peak 'Peak Plus Xtra'

High Peak's 'PeakPlus Xtra' day ticket is valid on all services operated by High Peak and TM Travel Services within Derbyshire, including: travel to and from Macclesfield, Derby, Buxton and Matlock and travel with TM Travel to Sheffield.

The 'PeakPlus Extra' costs just £12.50 for adults, £8 for children and £23 for a family ticket (up to two adults and three children aged 16 or two adults, two children and one dog). Tickets can be purchased from High Peak drivers.

The Greater Manchester Wayfarer

Transport for Greater Manchester's Wayfarer ticket is valid for one day's travel on most buses, Metrolink trams and trains in the Greater Manchester area and into the Peak District as far as Ashbourne, Matlock and Crich. (Trains and trams cannot be used before 9.30am on Mondays to Fridays.)

Tickets are priced at £12 for an adult, £6 for a child or senior citizen (aged 60 or over), and £23 for a group (up to two adults and two children under 16).

Tickets are available in the area covered, from PayPoint retailers (including Transport for Greater Manchester (opens in a new window) travel shops), staffed railway stations and train conductors, up to three days in advance.

The Arriva Day Saver ticket

Arriva Midlands (opens in a new window) offer a variety of day tickets, valid for one day's travel on Arriva Midlands services, and sold on their buses. Burton/Swadlincote zone and Derby zone tickets cost £4.20 each for adults, while a Midlands Day Saver costs £6.20 (adult) or £4.10 (child - not available on schooldays).

The East Midlands Day Ranger

The East Midlands Day Ranger ticket is a train rover ticket, valid for unlimited travel on local trains in the East Midlands area after 9am, Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Tickets are priced at £36.30 (adult), £18.15 (child) or £23.95 (railcard holder).

The area of validity includes Derby, Matlock, Alfreton, Uttoxeter, Crewe, Mansfield, Worksop, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Leicester, Peterborough, Grantham, Nottingham and Lincoln.

Tickets are sold at rail station ticket offices in the area covered.
