Highway maintenance hierarchy

We are working on the development of a maintenance hierarchy which will take account of the actual traffic flows rather than the existing classified network of roads.

This may change the status of the road you live on, the level of service or surfacing materials and our approach to maintenance.

We will be consulting on this following a report to be presented to our cabinet for approval early in 2016.

Work is also continuing on our data management strategy which will cover the ongoing capture and update of the existing highways infrastructure asset register and survey condition data. A survey was undertaken in 2008/09 across Derbyshire to locate and record all our highways and transport assets. We use this information to help us improve efficiency in delivering the highways and transport network.
