Express coach
National Express runs daily express coach services to Derbyshire from many parts of the country including London, Yorkshire, the North-East of England, Yorkshire, South Wales and the south coast. There are also services to Manchester, East Midlands, Gatwick and Heathrow Airports. Seasonal services run to coastal resorts.
Air
East Midlands Airport
East Midlands Airport is close to Derbyshire's southern boundary, and is the nearest airport to Derby.
The airport is served by bus services into Derbyshire. Full timetables of these bus services are available in the online timetable library.
A regular shuttle bus runs between the airport and the East Midlands Parkway rail station, served by trains to Long Eaton and Derby, with connections for Chesterfield.
A National Express coach service links the airport with Chesterfield.
Birmingham Airport
Birmingham Airport is adjacent to Birmingham International railway station, and a free 'Air-Rail Link' runs between the airport and the station.
There are frequent trains to Birmingham New Street station, from where there are connecting trains to Derby and Chesterfield.
Manchester airport
Manchester Airport is linked by frequent train services with Manchester Piccadilly (for connections to New Mills, the Hope Valley, Chesterfield and Alfreton), with Stockport (for connections to New Mills and Buxton) and with Sheffield (for connections to Chesterfield and Derby).
There is also a frequent bus service between Manchester Airport and Buxton, with connections at Stockport or Buxton for Bakewell, Matlock and Derby.
Train
East Midlands Trains
East Midlands Trains run direct trains from Leicester, London, Luton and Sheffield to Derby and Chesterfield.
They provide direct trains to Derby from Birmingham, Crewe, Nottingham and Stoke-on-Trent, and connections to Matlock and Long Eaton.
They also offer direct links to Alfreton, Langley Mill (for Heanor) and Chesterfield from Liverpool, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Peterborough, Sheffield, Stockport and Warrington.
Direct train services from Mansfield and Nottingham to Shirebrook, Langwith, Creswell and Whitwell are also run by East Midlands Trains.
Cross Country Trains
Cross Country Trains run direct services to Derby and Chesterfield from Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Cheltenham Spa, Doncaster, Exeter, Gloucester, Leeds, Newcastle, Newport, Plymouth, Sheffield, Wakefield and York.
Northern Rail
Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith and New Mills are served by frequent direct trains from Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.
There are also frequent direct trains from Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport to Glossop and Hadfield.
The Northern Rail Hope Valley line has trains between Sheffield, Stockport and Manchester serve Grindleford, Bamford, Hope, Edale, Chinley and New Mills.
