CAF (Early Help Assessment)

The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) is a standard assessment used by all practitioners working with children, young people and their families or carers.

The aim is to provide the right support at an early stage before the need increases.

CAF involves listening and working closely with a child, family or young person to find out what help is needed and what is working well in their lives and can be shared between services.

CAF is used nationally and is a key part of working together to support families.

Further information for people who work with families can be found in the practitioner's section.
