The centre provides day services and community support work to the whole of the Amber Valley area, with its own vehicles and drivers to transport clients to and from the centre.
The building was adapted for day services in the mid 1980s and facilities include a large lounge seating 8 clients, a large dining room and disabled toilet facilities.
We have 2 part time cooks who provide a choice of freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced meals that are able to meet individual dietary needs. Both cooks are trained in supporting the nutritional needs of individuals with dementia.
We provide specialist dementia groups on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 3pm.
These groups are run by workers who have a wealth of experience in caring for individuals suffering from a dementia. Each group has a co-ordinator responsible for organising activities, which include, orientation sessions, current affairs, local history, chair based games, musical and general knowledge quizzes, and sing-a-longs.
We offer a person-centred approach to the people who use our service.
All staff have received dementia care training, and we are normally able to provide a staff ratio of 1 to 4 in the larger lounge, and 1 to 2 in the smaller lounge.
Ambervale also has 2 community support workers who visit and support individuals within their own homes, and to access community services.
On Tuesdays, we provide a service for individuals with a physical disability.
We have 2 groups which are run by day service workers, each with their own co-ordinator. Activities offered are similar to those on other days of the week, with current affairs and local news being discussed, alongside physical activities and craft sessions.
