Coming to a record office or local studies library for the first time may seem quite daunting but staff are on hand to make your visit enjoyable.

We can give you a handout showing the layout of our building for you to use during your visit. Staff are always happy to show you where things are or how to use our facilities.

If you haven't already got a CARN ticket or a Derbyshire Library card, you may need to register with us. You'll need to bring some ID showing us your name, address and signature. It's a good idea to bring ID with you even if you don't think you'll need it as you may find some material which is only available to see in the search room or on a computer.

We also offer regular 'Introduction to the Record Office' sessions, where a member of staff will tell you all about our services, give you a tour around the building and let you handle some of our documents. The dates are on our events listings.
