Joining the library

Find out how you and your children can join in person or online.

If you live, work or study in Derbyshire you can join the library.

Join online

Simply fill out our online membership form (opens in a new window) and you will be given a temporary library card number. To complete the process please take one of the forms of ID listed on this page to any Derbyshire library.

Call into your local library

We will normally need to see a form of identification with your name and address on before we can give you a library ticket.

The documents we accept as proof of identification are:

  • driving licence
  • bank statement
  • building society book
  • Post Office savings book
  • welfare benefits book
  • pension book
  • bus pass
  • receipted bills
  • council tax demand
  • medical card

Just take one of these documents along to your nearest library and you will be issued with a library ticket. If you have any more questions about how to join please ask staff at your local library.

Already a member?

If you believe you are already a member of the library but have lost your ticket please contact your local library for a replacement.

You are never too young to join the library.

For children under twelve

A parent or carer needs to show one form of identification listed above or have a valid Derbyshire library card.

Young people twelve and over

You will need to show one form of identification listed above or your b_line card (opens in a new window)
