Library volunteering opportunities

Derbyshire libraries offer a range of volunteering roles. You could get involved with activities ranging from children’s events to helping people with IT to delivering books to people in their homes.

What we're looking for

We're looking for volunteers who offer commitment and enthusiasm. As most roles are customer facing, communication skills and an interest in working with the public are also important.

Some roles have other specific requirements. These are detailed in the volunteering details attached to this page.

Not all roles are not available all the time. We recruit volunteers as and when the role is required.

What we offer

We offer full support to our volunteers, and the opportunity to get involved in a real variety of things and develop new skills. Our volunteers often help us provide services that have a big impact on people’s lives, and they're highly valued.

Volunteer Andrew Beaumont said:

"Computer volunteering at the library gives people the confidence to try different things. Helping them is very fulfilling when you make a breakthrough and people learn something new."

How to apply

Please see the volunteering details attached to this page. If you're interested in any of the roles please contact us:

We'll contact you to let you know if an opportunity is available near you and ask you to come for an informal interview. You'll need to complete an application form and provide 2 contacts for references.

If we do not need volunteers for the role, we'll add you to a waiting list.
