Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge returns to Derbyshire Libraries in July 2022.

Gadgeteers - Summer Reading Challenge 2022This years’ challenge has been developed in partnership with the Science Museum Group and will feature the Gadgeeters – 6 fictional young innovators who, using creative thinking and teamwork, plan a party for their town’s summer fair celebration.

Children taking part in the challenge will help the Gadgeeters come up with ingenious inventions to make the summer party the best ever!

The Summer Reading Challenge is produced by The Reading Agency and runs in libraries all over the country. The challenge, aimed at children aged 4 to 11 years, is to read 6 or more library books over the summer. In libraries, children will receive a sticker for every book they read and after completing 6 books will receive a medal and certificate.

We will also be offering a variety of related activities in many of our libraries. From technical challenges to electro-dough, there will be activities to inspire an interest in science and technology and have fun.

We'll have more information soon and we'll let you know more about this year's challenge here, in our libraries, and on our Facebook page.
