Tapton Lock Festival

Saturday 16 September and Sunday 17 September 2017 from 11am to 4pm.

In September 2016 we enjoyed another great weekend of music, arts and crafts, as well as have a go canoes and climbing wall. The sun shone on us and we welcomed over 1,000 visitors to the site. The magnificent Professor Seltsam entertained visitors with his own amazing version of the Big Bang and spoof science. Ashover Silver Band played beautifully for us on the sunny Sunday afternoon and these performers and many more will join us again for our 2017 celebration event.

In 2015 Cathy Grindrod, our festival poet, talked to both visitors and stall holders before composing the festival poem. The poem is attached to this page. A poem Cathy wrote about the canal in 2007 is also attached to this page. It's interesting to see how the description and atmosphere of the poems have changed, which we think, reflects the great improvements visitors to the canal can see.

We deliver the Tapton Lock Festival in partnership with Junction Arts, a participatory arts organisation and charity based in Chesterfield.
