About the park
Shipley Country Park is an oasis in the middle of an urban area. Sprawling over 700 acres and with more than 20 miles of paths and bridleways this popular beauty spot is a haven for ever-growing numbers of walkers, cyclists, fishermen and horse riders.
Around 47,000 vehicles use the park's main car park per year with many more parking on roads in the surrounding area and arriving on foot.
Three sites to be let by competitive tender for a period of one year − with the potential for annual renewals for up to three further years − and subject to a commercial licence at:
- Mapperley − A hard-standing space in the car park next to Mapperley Reservoir. Around 12,200 vehicles use this car park per year with many more visitors arriving on foot.
- Shipley Hill − A hard-standing space in the heart of Shipley Park in the grounds where Shipley Hall once stood. Around 5,000 vehicles use the car park per year but most visitors arrive by foot.
- Shipley Coppiceside − A hard-standing space in the main car park next to the visitor centre. This car park attracts around 47,000 vehicles per year with many more visitors arriving by foot.
We're happy to consider tenders for one or more of the three sites. All will be let by competitive tender on a trial basis for a period of one year and subject to a commercial licence.
