Highway Agency agents /consultants

The Highway Agency and their agents or consultants have the following responsibility: 

  • Assist with flood alleviation such as issuing sandbags, clearance of blocked gutters and drains, dealing with flooded roads and traffic diversions.

Water utilities

Water utility suppliers have the following responsibilities: 

  • Secure water supply and sewerage services and equipment to ensure continuity of service. 

  • Repair services disrupted by flood events. 

  • Provide alternative means of supply during service disruption if life and health risks are identified. 

  • Advise local authorities and the communications media when disrupted services will be reinstated. 

  • Liaise with, or if necessary attend, the emergency control centre.  

Utilities

Other utility suppliers have the following responsibilities.
