We aim to increase the skills and knowledge required by workers to provide high quality services.
Based at our Denby Depot the we have trainers experienced in social care and safeguarding.
Our courses are free for delegates working or volunteering in Derbyshire and can be accessed by all practitioners working with children and younger adults. However, there are a few courses which are for specific groups only, so please read the target audience section in the course descriptions carefully to make sure the course is suitable for you.
Safeguarding training should be refreshed every 2 years for those with a designated safeguarding role or responsibility and every 3 years for everyone else working with children and young people. However, you do not have to keep taking the same safeguarding course but should choose other courses to help develop your skills and knowledge in this area. Ofsted and other inspecting or regulatory bodies look favourably on training records that show progression rather than repetition of the basics.
To apply for courses offered by the Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Board please complete an application for a training course form (T4) and return it to:
Tel: 01629 531933
As training is expensive and places are limited it is important that you notify Jackie Mee as soon as possible, if you are unable to attend, email: email@example.com or tel: 01629 531452.
All our managers are notified of non-attendees on the day of training where prior notification has not been received. A cancellation fee will be charged if we do not receive prior notification of your inability to attend a course.
To help you to have a good learning experience it is important that you inform us in advance if you have any particular need such as loop system or support with written material.
Lunch is not provided and there are rarely kitchen facilities. However, drinks will be available through the duration of courses.
Derbyshire Safeguarding Children's Board also provides eLearning programmes for everyone who works with children, young people and their parents, carers and families. Please view our latest programmes:
