School admission arrangements 2018 to 2019

The admission arrangements for maintained schools in Derbyshire have been determined for the 2018 to 2019 school year.

Admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools 2018 to 2019

There are no changes to the general admissions arrangements for community and controlled schools in Derbyshire other than:

  • A change to the method of measuring home to school distance for admissions purposes. A straight line distance from home to school replaces the shortest available route (as plotted on the children's services department geographic information system).

  • Changes to key dates in the admissions process for 2018 to 2019 which are set out in the coordinated scheme.

  • Changes to a number of published admission numbers.

Changes to published admission numbers

There are changes to the school Published Admission Numbers (PANs). In line with recommendations from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator and following consultation there are also revised sixth form PANs for community and controlled schools.

  • Woodbridge Junior School - reduce from 65 to 45
  • Grassmoor Primary School - reduce from 40 to 30
  • Somercotes Infant School - reduce from 70 to 60
  • William Rhodes Primary School - reduce from 40 to 30
  • Brampton Primary School - reduce from 60 to 45
  • Milford Primary School - reduce 20 to 15
  • The Curzon CE (VA) Primary School - increase from 17 to 19
  • Gamesley Primary School - increase from 40 to 45
  • St Anne's RC Primary School - increase from 40 to 45
  • Brailsford Primary School - increase from 13 to 17
  • Town End Junior School - increase from 45 to 50
  • Aston-on-Trent Primary School - increase from 27 to 30.
  • Linton Primary School - reduce 35 to 30

All other PANs remain as published in the 2017-2018 arrangements. All of these changes are in line with revised net capacity assessments.

Changes to normal area

The Drakelow Park housing development is to be redefined as being in Stanton Primary School's normal area. This will be reviewed again when the new primary school to serve the completed development is opened.

In other respects the admission arrangements for community and controlled schools are unchanged from those published for 2017-2018.

Coordinated admission arrangements

There are no significant changes to the coordinated admissions scheme other than to bring forward relevant dates into the 2018-2019 admission rounds. The coordinated admissions scheme is attached to this page.

Fair access protocol

There are no changes to the fair access protocols which reflect the most recent Department for Education (DfE) advice and other national and local changes.
