DerwentWISE

Green woodwork course

DerwentWISE is a £2.5m, five-year partnership project which aims to inspire and enable us all to care for the iconic landscape of the Lower Derwent Valley in Derbyshire.

The DerwentWISE area extends from Matlock Bath 16 miles down the River Derwent to the Silk Mill in Derby and focuses on the landscape surrounding the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Sites − the birthplace of the modern factory system.

Many of the activities are about the hidden or forgotten beauty of the Valley. The partnership is led by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. The partnership includes more than 15 organisations, including us.

The Get Skilled for DerwentWISE programme is one of the projects running within the DerwentWISE scheme. This is a programme of public courses for people living in the area, mentoring for new dry stone wallers, volunteering opportunities for graduates and training for community groups.

For more information on Get Skilled for DerwentWISE, or to book a place on any of the courses please contact us at our centres.
