Suitable for learners aged 16 and above. This course could support you in your existing employment, in roles such as childcare, support work, community work and learning and development. If you are interested in supporting people to improve their own wellbeing, this course will give you the understanding, knowledge and skills to do that.
Progression from level 2
The qualification can be used to progress further in the field of counselling onto the level 3 certificate in counselling skills.
The level 3 certificate in counselling skills is for those requiring a deeper understanding of counselling and considering progression on to level 4 and a future role in counselling. It can be funded with an adult learner loan.
You will gain an understanding of a range of skills and examine schools of thought / theoretical models. You will develop a range of counselling skills and skills in self-awareness and self-assessment. These skills will be more effectively developed through a process which encourages you to assume an active responsibility in your own learning and enables you to establish good principles and practice from shared analysis with other learners and staff experiences, both on the course and related experiences.
Progression from level 3
The qualification can be used as a progression route towards a range of qualifications. For example, level 4 qualification in counselling skills and theory or other professional counselling qualifications, advice and guidance worker, workplace mentoring, the education sector, adult health and social care, youth work or charity work.
Courses run throughout the year at various venues across the county and online. For both the level 2 and level 3 courses you will need to hold a level 2 English qualification.
