Find out about our new extra care scheme at our information event

9 August 2017

Job seekers and residents will have the chance to find out more about our latest care scheme at an upcoming information and recruitment event in Buxton.

On Wednesday, 16 August 2017, residents are invited to Buxton's Pavilion Gardens to learn more about Thomas Fields, our new £9.1m development for older people.

The event runs between 1pm and 4pm, and is open to people looking to begin or continue a career in care, residents and their families who would like to buy (or rent) extra care accommodation as well as professionals including district nurses and social workers who are looking for accommodation for their clients.

Thomas Fields is our ninth extra care facility, joining Lacemaker Court in Long Eaton, Smithybrook View in Clay Cross and Waltham House in Wirksworth.

Currently being built on Brown Edge Road in Buxton, the 53-bedroom care centre is due to open in summer 2018. Extra care housing supports people aged over 55 to live independently while also providing 24/7 care on site when needed.

As well as 53 two-bedroom extra care housing apartments there will be a 20-place specialist residential care centre and communal facilities including a restaurant, hair salon and health suite.

Our Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Councillor Jean Wharmby said:

"We hope to see lots of people at the Pavilion Gardens so they can find out more about this brilliant scheme.

"As people get older, living alone while staying independent can sometimes become an issue. Our extra care housing developments offer flexible care that's tailored to their needs.

"We're very excited about Thomas Fields and feel it will be an excellent addition to the community providing lots of opportunities for local people."

Staff will be on hand throughout the afternoon to talk to people about the new development, what's on offer and the variety of job roles that will be available.

There will also be a chance for people to give their views about the activities and facilities they'd like to see in Thomas Fields, both for residents and the local community.

The care home is being developed along with housing providers Housing & Care 21 and developers Keepmoat.

Residents, job seekers and professionals can find out more about the upcoming open day at the Pavilion Gardens on St John's Road by email: Isobel.Fisher@derbyshire.gov.uk or tel: 01629 532320.
