We agree partnership to improve our properties

Published: 3 March 2020

A landmark partnership with Public Sector Plc has been agreed to help get the best out of the land and property we own.

We will work in partnership with Public Sector Plc to assess the opportunities available to unlock the value of our land and property.

Our Cabinet Member for Corporate Services Councillor Angelique Foster said:

“The council owns a diverse portfolio of operational and non-operational land and property, some of which has the potential for development.

“This partnership is about looking at our land and property and identifying opportunities for making the best of them to support regeneration objectives, helping to provide land to meet targets for much-needed housing or using them to help revitalise the location around them for the benefit of local communities.

“It is also about helping us improve our asset management which will enable us to generate capital receipts, create new income streams and achieve revenue savings – all of which will ensure that we work efficiently and deliver value for money for local residents.”

Public Sector Plc has 19 partnerships with local authorities across the country and has helped deliver thousands of new jobs and homes as well as town centre regeneration, offices and financial savings that are ploughed back into the public sector.

Public Sector Plc Chief Operating Officer Paul Brown said:

“We’re excited to be working with the innovative team at Derbyshire County Council to help support the council’s corporate property objectives that will accelerate regeneration while also creating new income streams to help maintain services for the local community.

“We’re also exploring how we can help the council meet the challenges of climate change which may include the development of carbon-neutral homes for rent or to buy.”
