What this consultation is about
In January 2014 we decided to cut the street lighting budget by £775,000.
This budget cut has meant that we are not now routinely replacing street light bulbs and as a result we expect more light bulbs to expire over the coming years.
We do not have the money to replace all that are expected to fail, so need to set priorities.
A report on the results of the public consultation on the proposed changes to street lighting maintenance policy and the proposed introduction of LED lights with dimming, and to seek approval for an invest-to-save proposal and funding, was presented to Cabinet, 21 October 2014, agenda item 13.
