What this consultation is about
This consultation asked for your views on changes to policy for home-to-school transport for children of pre-school age, students of sixth form age and young adults subject to a learning difficulty assessment.
We are facing budget pressures like never before and need to save £157m by 2018.
Reductions in Government grants, inflation and greater demands on areas of the county council's budget for adult social care and vulnerable children mean it must re-think the way it delivers services.
It means some services will remain, some will be run differently but some will have to stop.
Free transport for some Derbyshire pupils with special educational needs is being reviewed as part of this process and we’re asking people for their views on this.
We will continue to provide free home to school or college transport for eligible school age pupils with special educational needs or a disability.
This consultation is now closed. A report was presented to Cabinet on 6 May 2014, agenda item 14.
