Proposed changes to the age range of New Mills School and Sixth Form

What this consultation is about

The governing body of New Mills School and Sixth Form has proposed changing the age range of the school from 11 to 18 to 11 to 16. The proposal would be implemented from August 2017, with the result that there would be no recruitment into Year 12 at the school from September 2017. The proposal would not affect students who are currently (2016/17 academic year) in the sixth form at the school. These students will be able to complete their studies with the effect that there would be no students aged over 16 from September 2018.

The governors carried out an in initial consultation on the proposal during April and May 2016. A copy of the consultation document, an analysis of the responses, some further responses and analysis are included in the paper that was presented to Cabinet, 20 September 2016, agenda item 21.

The formal consultation is now closed. A report was presented to Cabinet, 13 December 2016, agenda item 11.
