What this consultation is about
We are facing the biggest cuts in our history.
By 2020 the funding we get from Government will be more than a third lower than in 2010.
We’re protecting frontline services and vulnerable people where we can but the extent of the cuts mean we have no choice but to reduce the amount of funding to most of the services we provide.
For years we have continued to fund voluntary and community sector groups but legally we do not have to provide some of these services. Unfortunately it has been identified that a number of these services do not contribute to our service priorities to meet statutory requirements as identified in the Care Act 2014.
That’s why we’re now proposing to cut funding to most of these services.
The services fall into two groups:
- services which receive funding from us
- services which receive funding jointly from us and the local NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs)
If these cuts are approved by our cabinet, some services currently receiving this funding may need to stop altogether. It is not possible to specify here the exact consequences of cutting funding for the service or services you use. This is because some schemes receive funding from more than one source.
Please note: Initially a mistake was made on question eight of the questionnaire which lists organisations. Age UK – Countywide Mobile Information Service/Information Road Show, Age UK – Befriending Services - Bakewell and Buxton area, Age UK Provision of a telephone Careline Service in Erewash were missed from the list. This has now been rectified.
The NHS CCGs have carried out their own engagement on their contributions to joint-funded schemes.
