Status: Closed

Opens: 3 August 2016 - Closes: 26 October 2016

What this consultation is about

We seek your views on our proposal to carryout significant work to the surface and drainage of a short section of this public bridleway to stabilise the surface and avoid periodic expenditure to manage the route.

Location

Brampton Public Bridleway runs in a generally southerly direction from the B6050 at Grid Reference (GR) SK 3159 7360 to the hamlet of Wigley.

Extent of planned work

From the B6050 at GR SK 3159 7360 to south west of Birley Grange Cottage Farm at GR 3129 7315. Approximately 630m.

Proposed improvements

The filling of existing potholes with bituminous material. The track is then to be overlaid with tar spray and chippings (surface dressing). Drainage works are to be carried out on the steepest section of the bridleway to help prevent future erosion of the surfacing. Please refer to the plan showing the proposed works which is attached to this page.

Reason for the work

To avoid continuous erosion of the surface.

To manage water during periods of heavy rain.

To mitigate against the potential flooding of nearby premises.

To provide a sustainable surface for the use of the public.

Estimated cost

£56,000.
