What this consultation is about
We are facing huge budget cuts and must find ways of saving £157m by 2018.
Reductions in Government grants, inflation and greater demands on areas of our budget for adult social care and vulnerable children mean we must rethink the way we deliver services.
It means some services will remain, some will be run differently but some will have to stop. We don’t want to cut any services but we have no choice.
We want to hear your views about proposed changes to adult care services:
Proposal one
To reduce the number of clients supported under the accommodation based service or support delivered at home from 294 to 220 people, by 31 March 2016 and a further reduction to 193 clients supported from 1 April 2017.
Proposal two
To reduce the length of support in the accommodation based service from two years to one year, and in the service provided at home (floating support) from two years to nine months.
By completing the accompanying questionnaire, you can tell us:
- your views about these proposals
- your ideas about other ways we could save money in adult care.

To help you to understand the proposals we have written a range of fact sheets. You can also read the cabinet paper which details all the proposed changes.
