What this consultation is about
This consultation is now closed. Following analysis of the consultation results a report on the 'Proposed Changes to Adult Care Policies on Transport, Client contributions and the Eligibility Threshold' was presented to Cabinet, 17 June 2014, agenda item six. A report on the 'Proposed Changes to the Housing Related Support Programme - Phase one' was presented to Cabinet, 15 July 2014, agenda item 12.
Reductions in Government grants, inflation and greater demands on areas of our budget for adult social care and vulnerable children mean we must re-think the way we deliver services.
It means some services will remain, some will be run differently but some will have to stop. We don’t want to cut any services but we have no choice. We’ve drawn up plans for how we think we can save money would like to know what you think.
Consultation
- We are proposing to change the level at which adults qualify for a service in the form of a personal budget or direct payment – from ‘higher moderate’ level to ‘substantial’ needs and above.
- We are also proposing to change what we ask people to contribute towards the support we provide through a personal budget or direct payments.
- If you currently use transport provided or arranged by the county council, for example to get to a day centre or another activity or service like a luncheon club, then you could be affected by our proposals. We are proposing to introduce a new adult care transport policy and are also proposing to introduce a charge to provide or arrange transport to adult care services.
- We are proposing to make £9m of savings over two years from the housing-related support services. This consultation is asking you to have your say about phase one of the two-year savings plan where we are proposing to save £2m.
By taking part in the consultation you told us:
- your views about these proposals
- your ideas about other ways we could save money in adult care.
