What this consultation is about
We're facing budget pressures like never before and need to save £157m by 2018.
Reductions in Government grants, inflation and greater demands on areas of our budget for adult social care and vulnerable children mean we must re-think the way we deliver services.
It means some services will remain, some will run differently, but some will have to stop. We don't want to cut any services but we have no choice.
By law, we don't have to provide young people with discounted travel but we have done, since 2001 through b_line. This is because we pay the discounted part of the fare back to the bus and train companies.
But we need to make changes to save money and this is why we are now asking you about our plans for b_line in the future.
This consultation is now closed. A report on the results of the consultation was presented to Cabinet 26 May 2015, agenda item 12.
