Healthy and supported people
We aim to address and, where possible, reduce inequalities in health and the provision of social care and other support.
Key areas of focus
We will be focussing on the following:
- inequalities in health including mental health and wellbeing
- the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable groups
- social care and support which meets the needs of increasingly diverse communities
- inequality based on neurodiversity
- educational attainment and aspiration
- helping young people to catch up on missed education
Current delivery plan – year 1 activity
By the end of March 2023, we will have:
- a better understanding of the diverse communities of Derbyshire, specifically the health inequalities that have been created and widened by COVID
- used what we've learned about strategies to reduce inequalities during COVID to help rebuild communities, promote community wellbeing, and ensure our services meet the diverse needs of Derbyshire's residents
- linked the EDI strategy with the Disability Employment and Autism strategies, recognising that meaningful employment contributes to health and wellbeing
- a deeper and richer understanding of the needs of specific communities such as Derbyshire's Deaf and hard of hearing communities.
- launched the 'We are Derbyshire' strategy and plan, a key aim of which is to improve social mobility in Derbyshire
- introduced programmes of support to improve phonics and reading across all key stages, and provided outdoor learning opportunities to the most vulnerable students
