Employment, skills and business support for people experiencing inequality and exclusion
We aim to increase the range and number of employment and skills opportunities. This will support businesses, and improve qualifications across diverse and disadvantaged communities, creating a thriving local economy that everyone can access.
Key areas of focus
We will be focussing on the following:
- ensuring diversity in our economic and business support programmes, and strategies
- improving access to skills and employment
- increasing opportunities for apprenticeships
- increasing social mobility
- supporting disabled people into employment
Current delivery plan – year 1 activity
By the end of March 2023 we will have:
- launched the Disability Specific Employer Engagement Project
- reviewed the Trusted Trader Code of Conduct, and improved opportunities for businesses in the scheme to promote their services to our diverse communities
- worked with our black and minority ethnic (BME) communities to identify how we can improve access to jobs and training opportunities in Derbyshire
- reviewed the effectiveness of programmes aimed at supporting young people and others into work, or to improve their skills
