Volunteer passport toolkit
The Volunteer Passport Toolkit has 6 core elements.
1. Training course plans
At the heart of Volunteer Passport is a quality assured training package specially designed to meet the needs of adult volunteers.
Each Volunteer Passport training session uses tried and tested learner-centred activities which are easily adapted by the tutor to suit your local situation.
To receive a Volunteer Passport each participant must successfully complete 5 half-day sessions. We supply a detailed plan for each of the 5 half-day training courses which are delivered by your own trainers.
The 5 sessions cover equality and diversity, safeguarding, health and safety, first aid, consulting children and young people.
2. Learner workbooks
A key part of the course is for each learner to gather their own evidence from interviews, photographs, discussions or peer observations.
We provide the template for an attractive and user-friendly Volunteer Passport workbook to enable each learner to gather evidence to suit their volunteering interests and their own learning style.
3. Learning resources
The Volunteer Passport Toolkit includes useful templates, for example:
- for learners: information packs, guidance on completing the evidence booklet
- for trainers: handouts, lists of other resources, sample responses to support the 5 sessions, outline learning plans
We guarantee that all our resources are up-to-date and reflect childcare best practice and current legislation.
4. Support package
We will provide expert support to you to deliver and evaluate your Volunteer Passport scheme.
Our training coordinator will visit your organisation to set up the Volunteer Passport agreement and licence.
Throughout your passport scheme you will also have a named contact to support you in the quality assurance of your Volunteer Passport scheme.
5. Branding and communications
The toolkit includes materials to help you to attract people on to your Volunteer Passport training course.
By using the branding templates you can easily adapt the strong Volunteer Passport brand to include your own logo and colours.
The branding kit includes artwork for certificates, ID badges, publicity leaflet, poster, pop-up exhibition stand, sample text for website and online application form.
6. Accredited by NCFE
Volunteers who successfully complete the course receive their Volunteer Passport which includes a certificate and a Volunteer Passport ID badge which formally recognises their important role.
Volunteer Passport has been successfully accredited by awarding body NCFE.
Registering and licensing your Volunteer Passport scheme with NCFE and the administration of certificates and badges are all included.
