Indian Community Association, The (Long Eaton)
Self help group offering support to men and women in Long Eaton and surrounding areas. The group help members with low self esteem to build up their confidence and wellbeing and be more independent and to reduce social isolation among lonely people. To promote bringing people together and make society more happy and enjoyable by having joint social activities. The group offers a chance to talk, share experiences and problems and get a moral and psychological uplift. We play cards, board games and have light chair based exercises. Refreshments are served. Three or four outings and social functions per year are arranged.
The group provides the elderly, disabled and lonely a friendly, caring, healthy and supporting environment. For many, especially Indian women, this is their only place to come outside the family.
