The scheme helps customers make informed decisions about choosing a registered business that meets high standards of hygiene and professionalism. It’s voluntary and all registered tattoo premises are eligible to apply. You can also withdraw at any time.
The scheme operates using the a nationally recognised four-star rating system. The aim of the scheme is to improve standards beyond the existing by-laws which regulate your profession. Joining is simple. Just complete the application form on this page.
We’ll then instruct an environmental health officer from your borough or district council to visit you to make an assessment and give your premises a rating. When this has been completed you’ll be issued with the appropriate star rating and a certificate and window sticker to display in your premises.
We’ll also display your rating on both our website and that of Derby City Council, borough and district council and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health as well as via Facebook and Twitter to help you promote your business.
Your first rating is free and will be valid until your next inspection no sooner than 12 months later. Some borough and district councils may charge for future inspections.
