Thank you to all those employees who took the time to respond to the survey on the future of Workforce Extra − the council's employee discount scheme. More than 2,200 employees took part and the replies have now been analysed.
We have taken the difficult decision not to extend the contract with the company who run Workforce Extra for us. We know that many employees will be disappointed with this decision. But in the light of the massive budget cuts we have to make over the coming years it does not seem right to spend money on a benefit for our employees, when the money could be spent on protecting jobs and services.
This is a view shared by many employees who took part in the consultation. We asked employees if they thought we should stop Workforce Extra as a benefit for employees − 53% of those who responded thought we should, 35% thought we should continue and 12% didn't know.
Workforce Extra will close on 31 March. Employees will not be able to buy any vouchers or top up store cards or make any purchases online through Workforce Extra after 31 March.
