Apprenticeships
We're creating 700 apprenticeships over the next four years in one of our biggest ever recruitment drives of young people.
Two schemes are running side by side − managed by Learning Unlimited, Chesterfield College's commercial arm − to create 500 placements within the county council and support another 200 with local businesses.
Derbyshire County Council apprenticeships
Placements will be in a range of county council services and across all districts of Derbyshire.
Recruitment is now underway for the first 50 positions in:
- business administration
- contact centre
- road work
school catering
Further positions will be released at regular intervals during the next four years.

Apprenticeship Grants for Employers
Businesses employing less than 50 employees can apply for an Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) of £2,500 provided by the county council towards the employment costs of an apprentice.
The young person must be aged 16 or 17 and not in education, employment or training.
Events are being held across the county to give employers information about the scheme. See our details about the events and further contact information.
