Employee survey 2011
4,551 of our staff took part in a survey during September 2011 to let us know how they felt about working for us.
The survey lets us know what we're doing well and what needs to be improved.
We asked to what extent our employees agreed with about 50 statements on the areas of 'My Job', 'Working for Derbyshire', 'Recognition, Feedback and Performance', 'Teamwork', 'Communication', 'Learning and Career Development', 'Pay and Benefits', 'Leadership', 'Change', 'Inclusion' and 'Fair Treatment and Wellbeing'.
You can see the headline results and analysis in the related documents section on this page.
The main areas of strength our employees have identified are that many of them:
identify with the council and its service ethos and are confident in the value of their own work in contributing to this, and therefore feel motivated to do the best job they can
place great value on the strength of teamworking and the support of their colleagues
appreciate the opportunities for learning and career development
consider they are treated fairly and inclusively
consider their wellbeing in the working environment is well supported.
The main areas for improvement identified are that many of them:
consider that change is poorly managed and consultation and communication on change isn't sufficient or effective
consider information isn't cascaded down or passed upwards effectively and that they're not as fully informed as they should be.
consider poor performance isn't managed well
consider pay and benefits don't fairly reflect the increasing demands made on them
raise questions over senior managers' clarity of vision for the organisation, confidence in decisions they make and how good their communication with employees is
have concerns about job security.
Please continue to visit this page as we add more analysis and news about what we're doing to address the areas for improvement identified.
