White Hall

Situated in a stunning location in the beautiful Peak District National Park, White Hall Outdoor Education Centre has given thousands of young people wonderful, memorable experiences of outdoor activities since it opened in 1951 as Britain's first local education authority outdoor centre for schools and groups.

White Hall is located 3 miles outside the spa town of Buxton, close to the picturesque Goyt Valley. We are ideally located to deliver a wide range of educational, challenging and adventurous activities.

Our residential adventure holidays provide the following for schools and groups:

  • experienced and highly qualified instructors
  • learning and development goals linked to the current curriculum
  • courses individually planned with you to meet your students' needs
  • outdoor activities that take you to real rock faces, reservoirs and hills
  • high quality facilities and home cooked food
  • a caring and welcoming environment
  • an inclusive price of instruction, activities and accommodation

And a lot more!

Our courses are packed full of excitement and adventure, leading to an amazing amount of learning taking place. Using outdoor activities and the residential experience, we can help young people develop in alternative ways to what they can in the school environment.

We give learning and development a real relevance, focusing on personal progress and the skills needed to work with others.

If you'd like we're very happy to show you around White Hall Centre and discuss options and availability for accreditation courses and residential adventure holidays, please phone to arrange a site visit.

Getting to White Hall

White Hall Centre is located just off the A5004 between Buxton and Whaley Bridge.

Do not use the postcode for your sat nav or internet directions, as it will take you to the back gate - via a very bumpy track!

Driving to White Hall from Whaley Bridge (north)

From Whaley Bridge, take the A5004 towards Buxton. The turning onto the White Hall drive is on your left, approximately 4 miles from Whaley Bridge.

After passing 2 reservoirs in the valley to your right, go around a sharp left hand bend and then a sharp right hand bend. The sign for White Hall is seen on your left, just before a white cottage. Turn left up the drive and follow it until you arrive at White Hall.

Driving to White Hall from Buxton (south)

From Buxton, take the A5004 towards Whaley Bridge. The turning onto the White Hall drive is on your right, approximately 3 miles from Buxton.

After about a mile and a half, the road sweeps right, then left downhill. The sign for White Hall is seen on your right, just after a white cottage. Turn right up the drive and follow it until you arrive at White Hall.
