Latest snow update

Our latest update: 10pm on Thursday 14 December 2017.

There is currently one road in Derbyshire closed due to snow - A57 Snake Pass.

Conditions overnight look set to be worse than forecast and changeable with a mix of rain, sleet and snow showers which will be slower to pass than expected earlier. Up to 4cm of snow could fall on higher ground.

Gritters are currently patrolling high parts of primary routes in the Chesterfield and Matlock area and primary routes in the Chapel area are currently being treated due to higher risk of snow.

Secondary routes across the county were gritted this afternoon.

We'll continue to monitor the situation throughout the night.

Next scheduled update 6am.

Check if your road is on a grtting route and when it was last gritted (opens in a new window).

We use the latest weather forecast from the Met Office (opens in a new window) to help us to decide where and when to grit.

Find a grit bin if you want to help keep roads and pavements in your area free from ice.
