In July 2005 the council approved the latest edition of its Highway Network Management Plan which is the technical document which specifies the maintenance and repair standards for the county's 5,102km of roads. It also provides details relating to footways, cycleways, greenways, verges, rights-of-way and highway structures.

The Highway Management Plan is a controlled document and the pages on the website correspond to the pages in the printed version, these can be cross referenced by page number.
The website contains the latest ammendments to the Highway Network Management Plan and may be more recent than the last published version of the plan. Version numbers and dates are displayed on all web pages and printed pages, the most recent version will be the current approved version.
All ammendments to the plan are listed in the ammendments section.
