Dead animals
We have a responsibility for safety on the roads. However, the removal and disposal of dead animals is normally a district council service:
- Amber Valley Borough Council (opens in a new window)
- Bolsover District Council (opens in a new window)
- Chesterfield Borough Council (opens in a new window)
- Derbyshire Dales District Council (opens in a new window)
- Erewash Borough Council (opens in a new window)
- High Peak Borough Council (opens in a new window)
- North East Derbyshire District Council (opens in a new window)
- South Derbyshire District Council (opens in a new window)
If their presence is likely to cause an issue of safety on the highway, we will move them to an adjacent place of safety awaiting collection and disposal by the appropriate district council.
In case of immediate danger to highway users please contact the police (opens in a new window).
The disposal of dead animals on private property is a matter for the landowner or owner of the animal.
