Motorcycles
Derbyshire's roads attract many motorcyclists and we aim to encourage these people to travel safely on our roads.
Bikers love the Derbyshire countryside because it offers great rides − but too many of them are running into trouble.
We want bikers to enjoy our countryside year after year rather than leaving in an ambulance or hearse.
We work with fellow members of the local Road Safety Partnership (opens in a new window) to encourage motorcyclists to travel safely on our roads.
Below are details about some of the things we do to support motorcyclists:
Coordinate Derbyshire Constabulary Bike Safe (opens in a new window) workshops which allow qualified riders to learn safe riding techniques for just £50.
Offer great discounts on rider development courses CBT Plus (opens in a new window) and Bike Plus (opens in a new window).
Distribute free copies of The Bikers' Guide to Derbyshire and Staying Alive − the manual for street bikers. These are available to download from the Safer Roads Derbyshire (opens in a new window) website.
Stage monthly motorcycle meets in Matlock Bath between April and September.
Visit regional biker events − such as charity rides − to talk to riders about riding on Derbyshire's most challenging routes.
Active members of the Shiny Side Up (opens in a new window) and Bare Bones (opens in a new window) regional motorcycle safety partnerships.
