Young drivers

‘No more lives wasted’ is a campaign aimed at encouraging young motorists to drive safely and raise awareness of the tragic consequences of road accidents.

Nationally just one in 10 car drivers are young people, but about one in four of all car drivers killed or seriously injured is aged 25 or under.

Road accidents are also the most common form of accidental death in young males.

Last year, 51 drivers aged 17-25 were seriously injured on Derbyshire’s roads – a further eight were killed.

The ‘No more lives wasted’ is a partnership campaign, developed by nine authorities across the region, and backed by Derbyshire Police and other agencies committed to reducing road deaths and injuries through policing, road improvements and education.

You can learn more about the 'No more lives wasted' campaign by visiting their website using the link in the related links section on this page. You can pledge your support, read real life stories and get your questions answered.

We also run a young driver programme for lower sixth form students.
