Transport & roads
Transport is a major issue facing communities in the 21st century. Without personal transport many people, especially those in rural areas, are becoming socially excluded from both workplace and essential local services.
To address these difficulties, three Accessibility Partnerships have been established in Derbyshire.
Each is a partnership of local authorities, transport providers, community groups, businesses and other organisations and aims to look at travel needs in communities, and to implement a Strategy and Action Plan.
The action plan seeks to address the transport and other accessibility needs of the area. These include access to health and social care facilities, employment, shopping facilities, education, (including youth and community services and adult education), leisure and culture, and other socially necessary services and to improve access to information about transport facilities.
