The Derbyshire Wayfarer
Derbyshire Wayfarer is the ideal ticket for exploring Derbyshire by bus and train. Tickets cost just £8.60 each for adults and £4.30 each for children, senior citizens (aged 60 or over; proof of age may be required) and holders of b_line and Derbyshire Gold Cards. A child may travel free with each adult-rate ticket holder.
A Group ticket for up to two adults and up to three children is available for £13.70. There are special discounts for Derbyshire Wayfarer travellers at top attractions in Derbyshire, and chances to win a free ticket.
The Stagecoach Explorer
Stagecoach's Explorer ticket is valid for one day's travel on all Stagecoach buses and trams (except Stagecoach Manchester services and "Pronto" buses) in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. Tickets are sold on their buses at £5.00 each for adults and £2.50 each for children.
The Dayrider ticket
Stagecoach in Chesterfield offer the Dayrider ticket for £3.80, or £1.90 for b_line² card holders. This gives a day's travel on Stagecoach in Chesterfield buses only, around the Chesterfield area (bounded by Clay Cross, Pilsley, Holmewood, Heath, Bolsover, Renishaw, Eckington, Norton Hotel, Dronfield, Holmesfield and Old Brampton). Tickets are sold on Stagecoach in Chesterfield buses within the validity area.
Similar tickets valid for seven consecutive days are also available - these are the MegaRider Plus ticket (valid in the same area as the Dayrider) and the cheaper MegaRider (valid within a smaller area around the town centre). For details visit the Stagecoach website.
The Trent Barton "Zig Zag Plus" and "Zig Zag"
"Zig Zag Plus" is valid for one day's travel on all Trent Barton buses (including "Rainbow", "TransPeak", "Red Arrow", "Villager", "Spondon Flyer", "Ilkeston Flyer", "Indigo", "Harlequin", "Allestree", "Mickleover" and "Black Cat" services).
Tickets are sold on their buses at £8.00 each. There is no child ticket, but a child under 14 or a dog may travel free with each adult ticket holder.
"Zig Zag" is similar, but is not available before 0900 on Mondays to Fridays. It is not valid on "TransPeak" or "Pronto" buses, or on "Red Arrow" buses leaving Nottingham between 1615 and 1745 on Mondays to Fridays. It costs £4.60 for an Adult or £2.30 for a Child.
The South Yorkshire Peak Explorer
The South Yorkshire Peak Explorer gives one day's bus and tram travel around South Yorkshire and the northern part of the Peak District.
Tickets (priced at £8.80 adult, £5.75 concessionary) are available from SYPTE Travel Centres around South Yorkshire, and at Peak Park information centres in Derbyshire.
The Greater Manchester Wayfarer
Greater Manchester PTE's Wayfarer ticket is valid for one day's travel (after 0930 on weekdays and anytime Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays) on most buses, Metrolink trams and trains in the Greater Manchester area and into the Peak District as far as Ashbourne, Matlock and Crich. Tickets are priced at £10.00 for an adult, £5.00 for a child or senior citizen (aged 60 or over), and £20.00 for a group (maximum of four people including no more than two over 15 years of age).
Wayfarer tickets are sold at Travelshops and most railway stations in Greater Manchester. Please note that in Derbyshire they are on sale only at manned railway stations on the Buxton, New Mills and Glossop lines, and at Peak Park information centres. The Arriva Day Saver ticket
Arriva Midlands offer a variety of day tickets, valid for one day's travel on Arriva Midlands services, and sold on their buses. Derby zone tickets cost £3.60 each for adults, while a Midlands Day Saver costs £4.80.
Arriva Midlands also offer an "all zones" day ticket for £3.75 (adult) or £2.00 (child), and a "go anywhere" ticket valid on all Arriva buses throughout the country (except for some park & ride services) for £6.50 (no concessions). The FirstDay ticket
The FirstDay ticket is valid for a day's unlimited travel on all First buses throughout South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire, as well as on any First bus in West Yorkshire, York and Greater Manchester. Call First on 01709 566000 to find out more.
The East Midlands Day Ranger
The East Midlands Day Ranger ticket is a train rover, valid for unlimited travel on local trains in the East Midlands area after 9am on Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Tickets are priced at £27.60 (Adult), £13.80 (Child) and £55.00 (Family - for up to two adults and four children under 16). The area of validity includes Derby, Matlock, Alfreton, Uttoxeter, Crewe, Mansfield, Worksop, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Leicester, Peterborough, Grantham, Nottingham and Lincoln. Tickets are sold at rail station ticket offices in the area covered.
Rail rover tickets covering an even larger area are also available. Prices are £83.80 (child or railcard holder £55.00) for seven consecutive days, and £63.80 (child or railcard holder £42.10) for any three days with a seven day period. Ask at a rail station for details.
Other train rovers valid on certain rail lines within Derbyshire include the Coast & Peaks Rover and the Heart of England Rover; these tickets are valid for three days within a seven day period or for seven consecutive days. Ask at a rail station for details.
