Bus-Rail Links

Various special tickets are now available for journeys which involve both bus and train travel.  This page summarises the tickets available in Derbyshire. 

Trent Bus Links 
Train passengers travelling by Midland Mainline trains to Derby, Nottingham, Beeston, Chesterfield, Long Eaton, Belper, Alfreton, Burton-on-Trent, Willington, Duffield, Matlock or Langley Mill can buy a special rail ticket which also includes unlimited travel on Trent Barton buses on the same day(s) as the train journey(s). The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket, but is only available where the normal train fare is £10 or more. 

Matlock Bus Link 
Train passengers to Matlock can buy a special bus add-on to their rail ticket, which is valid for a single or return bus journey onwards from Matlock on services operated by Trent Barton buses. The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket.

Alfreton Bus Link 
Train passengers to Alfreton can buy a special bus add-on to their rail ticket, which is valid for a single or return bus journey onwards from Alfreton on services operated by Trent Barton buses. The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket.

Long Eaton Bus Link 
Train passengers to Long Eaton can buy a special bus add-on to their rail ticket, which is valid for a single or return bus journey onwards from Long Eaton on services operated by Trent Barton buses. The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket.

Burton-on-Trent Bus Link 
Train passengers to Burton-on-Trent can buy a special bus add-on to their rail ticket, which is valid for a single or return bus journey onwards from Burton on services operated by Trent Barton buses. The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket.

Nottingham Bus Link 
Train passengers to Nottingham can buy a special bus add-on to their rail ticket, which is valid for a single or return bus journey onwards from Nottingham on services operated by Trent Barton buses. The special ticket costs £1.00 (single) or £2.00 (return) more than a normal rail ticket.

Edale Bus-Rail Link 
Holders of train tickets valid to or from Edale can travel free of charge on bus service 260 to/from Castleton at weekends.

Inter-availability of bus and train tickets between Sheffield and the Hope Valley 
Holders of return tickets issued on the Hope Valley train service and bus service 272 between Sheffield, Hathersage, Bamford and Hope or Castleton can use these tickets to return by either bus or train (train tickets to/from Hope will be valid from/to Castleton on the 272 bus, and bus tickets to/from Castleton will be valid from/to Hope on the train). Please note that other bus services and other destinations are not included in the scheme. 

Chesterfield PlusBus 
Train passengers travelling to Chesterfield can buy a "PlusBus" add-on to their rail ticket. The PlusBus add-on costs £2 (Adult) or £1 (Child) and gives a day's bus travel on almost all services in and around Chesterfield, and to Clay Cross, Eckington, Dronfield, Bolsover and many other villages.

Derby PlusBus 
Train passengers travelling to Derby can buy a "PlusBus" add-on to their rail ticket. The PlusBus add-on costs £2 (Adult) or £1 (Child) and gives a day's bus travel on most bus services in and around the City of Derby.

Plus Bus in other towns 
Train travellers to certain other towns and cities can buy a "PlusBus" add-on to their train ticket. The add-on gives a day's travel on bus services in the destination town or city, on the day of outward travel. PlusBus add-ons can be bought with any type of rail ticket. Destinations available from Derbyshire stations include Birmingham, Leicester and Sheffield.
