Family resource workers
When families of school aged children need extra help we have family resource workers based in schools to offer support.Family resource workers are based in primary and secondary schools across Derbyshire, they work with local schools to provide an effective contribution to improving lives for children and young people beyond the classroom.
The family resource worker can offer advice and support to a child, young person and their family when the school has identified them as being in a 'child in need'.
To receive support from the family resource worker parents and carers should talk to their child's school or, if a child is too young to attend school, ask for help from their local children's centre or health visitor. Alternatively you can call our contact centre Call Derbyshire on 08 456 058 058 for further information or advice.
There are fifty family resource workers in Derbyshire and the service is provided as part of a partnership between school clusters and our social care family support service.
