Re-signing the Derbyshire Compact

The Derbyshire Compact has been in existence since 2003, building on the national Compact and giving a local focus to relations between public sector bodies and the voluntary and community sector within the county. The Compact aims to create a truly equal and fair relationship between the voluntary and community sector and local bodies.

To refresh signatories and organisations about the Compact, what it stands for and the difference it can make to partnership working a resign of the Derbyshire Compact has been agreed. The Compact Steering Group is asking your organisation to renew their dedication to the Derbyshire Compact by reaffirming their commitment.

This can be done by filling in the form on the following page and returning to Louise Collins at:

Derbyshire COMPACT

The Derbyshire COMPACT is an agreement between voluntary and community groups and statutory organisations which sets out a framework for how these organisations will work together in partnership.

It outlines the shared principles that include: independence, funding and accountability, policy development and consultation and good practice which will help develop good relations between the sectors.

Derbyshire Compact VCI Sector

In May this year groups and organisations working with children, young people and families in the VCI sector across Derbyshire, took part in a consultation exercise around Compact and its Codes of Practice to ensure there is a greater understanding of this key working tool.

Matt Ford and Naomi Compton met with the chair of the Compact Steering Group in June and raised all the issues and concerns from the groups and organisations.  A paper in response to the issues can be viewed in the related documents section of this page.
