Sometimes it is difficult to know where to go for help with your particular situation. Here are some ideas to point you in the right direction to find help and what to do if you need help from us.

Do I need an assessment?
You do not need an assessment to arrange and purchase your own services from the providers or agencies listed above. Our brokerage service can help you with this.
But, for some services you may need an assessment to see if you are eligible for help. The assessment will look at what you need to make life easier for you.
To get an assessment please Call Derbyshire on 08 456 058 058.
We have a duty to assess people who appear as though they may benefit from a care service in their own home. It encourages people to seek help and advice before their circumstances break down. The kind of help that may be provided includes:
- Personal Care - this is a priority service which can help promote independence through personal caring tasks.
- Social Care - includes assisting to maintain social contacts and linking with other services.
- Practical Care - includes help with housework, shopping, laundry and meals, as part of an overall service.
If a need is identified, care at home can be provided by a range of service providers.
We provide more information on the assessment process and direct payments in our My Care Journey section. The Easy Guide to Direct Payments leaflet is available to view or download from related documents on this page.
Personal Care services that we organise or purchase are currently provided free of charge.
We carefully select home care and independent care agencies to make sure they can provide the right kind of assistance to meet agreed needs.
Are agencies safe to use?
All agencies providing personal care including our own home care service are inspected and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (opens in a new window).
