Training provided to staff

We provide HIV awareness training for a wide range of staff including the groups below:

  • Home helps
  • Foster carers
  • Social workers
  • Residential workers
  • Management
  • Day centre staff
  • Family support workers
  • Partner agencies.
We train staff on the following specific HIV/AIDS issues:
 
  • HIV/AIDS cuts across all aspects of services we provide and has implications for all client groups as well as touching on our own personal lives.
  • As providers of personal care, in face-to-face contact with members of the public, training for all staff should include some of the following, but should be geared to individual needs:
    • Health and safety
    • Transmission of HIV
    • Counselling/testing
    • Procedures
    • Confidentiality
    • Sex education/equal opportunities
    • Employment rights.
